Primetime given to Om Shanti Om versus Death of Legend

To: feedback@ndtv.com, editor@ibnlive.com

Dear Editors,

I was watching both your channels simultaneously on my DTH on Feb 8 at
prime time 9pm.
I was shocked to see, that the leading 2 news channels choose to
prioritize an exclusive story on the premiere of Om Shanti Om in
Berlin. Both your channels showcased 7 second photo clippings
commerating demise of Baba Amte.

Is that all you could do? If your are unbiased news agent why
sensationalize premiere of an entertainment movie?

My room mates asked me who is Baba Amte? Your urban target audience,
remains ignorant.
I felt ashamed that least any news channel could do, was to inspire
the youth of today by showcasing stories of an heroic social activist,
like Baba Amte, who transformed the lives of lakhs of Indians,
suffering from Leprosy and disability.

I realize that such stories might not get your "assumed" TRP, but with
this assumption, we might land up with a generation of citizens
discussing about movies and cricket.

Media has become a commodity!!!!! nothing more....nothing less...!! It's all a big game to earn money, and the only agenda they have is to create mechanical, insensitive audiences who will eventually get accustomed to fluff. It a dangerous media world out there, and the media giants...have long forgotten their purpose and existence...it's just another industry...money and simply money. Great feedback to them. Do let me know what they reply back, or even care to do so.

Good letter... and my salute to a hero of our times for a life well lived .
Everything is a function of time and only time will open the eyes of all towards the destruction humanity is headed to through its own choices. But free will allwos both construction and destruction and the cycle continues forever.
what is essential is that all our choices are guided by what we believe in at a given point in time and beliefs our nothing but our perception of reality . Today these news channel percieve or as you rightly said assume that they can make money by only sesationalising and highlighting such events without really understanding that they are impediments to human progress and are actaully indirectly shaping and fuelling the prevalent culture of " spicy news " or superficial pursuits .
The change comes from within and hope is what we all live on . Well written and well said once again . You have nothing to loose heart about as long as you are true to your soul you are contributing to setting this world on the right path .
